Working well

We worked most of the horses on Saturday morning, first lot worked up the 'bank' and second lot went on the 'back of the hill' gallop. Cedre Bleu worked well with Verano again, both horses are fit and ready to go so it is just a case now of finding the right race for them. Murray Mount worked very well and was paired with Lord Of House which gave them the proper blow they needed. Murray Mount is not far off a run, he will run first in another bumper or two before progressing to hurdles. Lord of House will be kept sweet and fit ready for the rain to come as he does really perform best in soft to heavy ground so he will be saved for this.

Nimbus Gale worked well with Portmonarch, they were both doing their best bit over the brow of the hill which can be difficult for some horses. Portmornarch has been looking rather poor but we have put him on some stomach care treatments and changed his feed so he seems to be making a turn around not showing any sign weakness in his piece of work.

Bridal Suite worked well with Area Access, they both have very similar game attitudes, they really try hard on the gallops. I like Bridal Suite a lot, he reminds me of Who Owns Me and Area Access and hopefully can win a few to be as good as them. Area Access runs tomorrow at Ffos Las, he didn't really fire until the end of last season but he is far better than he was this time last year so he should keep on improving. It has been difficult to decide what trip to start him over as he has won over 2m 3f and 3m 3f, we have started at 3m and will see how that fairs!

The young horses are coming along very well, No Bad News, Run To The Rhythm and the unnamed Brian Boru are going very nicely, really growing up in the past month. They are strong forward types that wont take much to come to hand. They have all done little bits of work and have been doing plenty of cantering upsides with the older horses to get them used to the hustle and bustle that they will experience in a race.

Sureness has gone on her holiday, she deserves a break after a busy year not to mention her four wins! She will hopefully come back for the Cheltenham Festival and continue to run into  the summer on the fast ground that she prefers. We have a new filly in from Robert Tompkins called Native Explorer, she is the half sister to a good horse I trained to win a bumper called Gallox Bridge.

I am off to the sales first thing in the morning to look at potential horses for a couple of owners. I have made a few shortlists which fit the criteria's  I have been given. There are some smart types on form that I am excited about, however I really do like to take a good look at them to make sure they look the right type too before I make any decisions. It is generally a competitive sale so I hope I have some luck on my side and manage to get the horses I want for the right money.
